ZoneScout · iPhone & iPad

iOS privacy policy

The listing lookup and as-you-type suggestions described here apply to version 2.0.1. Version 2.0.0 stores listing links as references and does not provide suggestions while you type.

This policy covers ZoneScout 2.0 for iPhone and iPad. It is separate from the website and browser-app privacy policy.

Service operator and data controller: Gürkan Kazancı, Karayolları Mahallesi, Gaziosmanpaşa, İstanbul, Türkiye. Privacy and support: zonescoutapp@gmail.com.

This version

This version has no ZoneScout account or cloud sync. It does not include ZoneScout advertising or usage-analytics services.

Searching for a place and inspecting a selected pin do not require access to your device’s current location.

Saved on this device

Saved candidate reports include place names, selected coordinates, incident snapshots and any reference links. They stay in this app’s local storage until you remove them. ZoneScout does not sync them to a server; your device’s backup settings may also apply.

In the saved stays list, swipe a report and choose Delete to remove the app’s saved copy. Older device backups must be managed separately.

Requests to other services

As you type a hotel, neighbourhood or address, ZoneScout sends the partial search text and selected city to Apple Maps to suggest matching places. Suggestions are limited to London, San Francisco and Chicago. Listing links are looked up only when you choose Find listing location.

Search terms and map views are handled by Apple Maps (MapKit). When you request a report, the selected coordinates and applicable area/date query are sent to the relevant official data provider: UK Police, SFPD/DataSF or Chicago’s data portal.

These providers may process network details such as your IP address under their own privacy policies. ZoneScout does not send them a ZoneScout account identifier.

The selected pin is a place you choose to research, not a measurement of your device’s current location. Official report requests do not include your saved stay name, local identifier or reference URL.

Search and report inputs are used to return the functions you request. The iOS app does not send saved reports to a ZoneScout account or use them for advertising. Apple and the official providers operate their own services and may process requests in other countries, including the United States or United Kingdom.

These are direct network requests from your device. Providers receive its network IP and the area/date query. Their operational or security logs may outlast the response; one fixed retention deadline or immediate erasure has not been verified. The linked provider policies apply to their processing.

Listing location lookup

When you choose Find listing location, ZoneScout requests the public listing page directly from Airbnb to look for approximate coordinates. Airbnb receives your IP address and the listing or share path. Query parameters and fragments are removed from these requests. The lookup does not pass through a ZoneScout server.

Listing lookup uses a temporary session without cookies, login or persistent page caching. Any result is approximate. Check the pin against the listing’s map before requesting a report. If no clear location is available, search for an address or place the pin yourself.

The original link you submit, including any query parameters, may be saved on this device with a candidate report. Opening the listing separately visits the website under its own privacy policy. Airbnb may process lookup requests under its privacy policy; ZoneScout has not verified its retention periods.

About the reports

Incident data is limited to supported areas of London, Chicago and San Francisco. Source periods and publication delays vary. Missing data does not mean zero incidents. The Area score is an experimental record index, not a personal risk percentage or a safety guarantee.

Accounts from earlier versions

ZoneScout’s earlier account system was retired on 20 October 2026. The old user accounts, profiles, username records and waitlist entries were deleted. This version does not use accounts, migrate old account data or provide cloud sync. That deletion did not cover historical analytics, service logs, backups or data held by other providers.

Support, privacy requests and retention

Email zonescoutapp@gmail.com for support or an applicable privacy-rights request. Sending email is optional and sends your address, message and attachments to us and Google/Gmail. Include only what is needed; do not send identity documents unless a proportionate verification need is explained.

Support correspondence is kept as needed to answer, handle follow-up and meet applicable legal obligations. Depending on applicable law, you may request information/access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, and complain to a competent authority. There is no ZoneScout account to close. We cannot remotely erase your device’s local records or independent provider logs.

Provider information

Visiting this policy or the support pages connects to Firebase Hosting, which may retain visitor IP data for a few months under its policy. These pages include no analytics, scripts or external fonts. Opening another website is your choice and is subject to that site’s policy.
